Title: we all see things differently
Posted on: Tuesday, 11 February 2014 February 11, 2014

he once whispered to me in that whimsical voice of his,
"what one draws, how one draws shows how one is"
i understood to a certain extend. i did very much.
i nodded in return and whispered back,
"but no one could understand what i draw"
i remembered looking at him with expectation and trust for why is it so.
he wrapped his long arms around me and drew me into a hug.
one filled with warmth that vibrated to the heart, tugging at it's heart strings.
"no need to worry, if no one can understand, the better it is"
and this, i couldn't understand. i looked up to the moon and her luminescence,
throwing away the thought that i couldn't understand.

he tugged me to a nearby meadow, a clearing where little glowing bugs flew so freely; them fireflies.
"you see them? they draw too you know?"
i looked at the fireflies that glowed together, blinked together and went in circles together.
like a dance repertoire of theirs. the glowing from them,
stayed for a while to form circles that lighted up the meadow along with the moon.
it was beautiful.
i continued to stare at the painting for a little while longer, before his voice broke the silence
"hey, look, look at that one there"
he pointed to one firefly, one that stood out; one that was cast aside
it flew in a mess, in zig zags, eights, with no grace; none at all
"look at it closely"
and so i did.
that one firefly, continued to fly in it's own very way
it flickered and then light off.
then on again, like a glitch on a computer screen.
i hadn't realised i had reached out my hands for it,
it burst through the air and flew in wiggly lines
as i chased it around the meadow.
laughter broke, i hadn't realised it was my own.
" can i bring this one home"
i pointed it to him.
"no, you mustn't, it's pretty isn't it? it's gorgeous right? and it stood out from others?"
"yes! yes! yes!"
"you see, being different, being hard to understand by others, makes you all the more beautiful"
"you'll mesmerise people more than anyone can do to everyone"
